January is a great time of year to catch up on some reading and easy listening. Calvin Sadie has been enjoying listening to Chris Williamson’s popular podcasts – here he shares his key takeaway:

I was recently listening to a podcast by Chris Williamson where he mentioned the importance of vocalising your learnings to cement them into your brain. This is particularly relevant today, as our attention span appears to be shortening because of social media. This enlightening practice seamlessly aligns with our Juniper snippet of inspiration for January - 'gather thoughts, share insights.'

Chris’s approach is simple yet profoundly effective. Each morning, he dedicates 20 minutes to focused reading, a routine that serves as a cornerstone for knowledge absorption. However, the real magic happens when he translates his learns’ into a shared narrative. During his gym session later in the day, Chris will take a moment to share with a friend the insight that he has learned.

Not only does this act help cement his knowledge, but sharing the insight with others passes on the wisdom. Adopting this approach not only enhances our understanding but contributes to a culture of shared insights. It improves our conversations and allows us to bounce further ideas around.

As we 'gather thoughts and share insights,' we actively promote an environment where knowledge becomes a communal source of strength, driving innovation and personal growth. Let's embrace the transformative power of vocalising our learnings, turning individual insights into a collective force to be reckoned with!
